GGC Day 3

Micah and Caroline were usually up a little earlier than the younger girls.  They both enjoy logic games, so they were allowed to play some of Nana's Lumosity games on her computer until Hannah and Abby were both up. The favorites were Train of Thought and Pet Detective
We learned that God made all the land animals on Day 6 - creepy crawly things, tame animals, and wild ones.  Here the campers are coloring just a few of their many animal masks.  They really liked these!
Can you tell who is who?
Just in case you couldn't tell, they'll show you their names, but Micah and Abby wanted to switch just to make it confusing for the parents.  :)

Since God did everything in such an orderly way, step by step, we decided to make stepping stones.  Papa mixed up the concrete for us, then the kids smoothed it in their containers.

There were plenty of colorful decorations to choose from, and here are the (not yet painted) creations, Caroline's with a "C" in the middle. So sorry Nana chopped Hannah's head off!  :(

We girls did Jamberry nails while the guys went for a bike ride.  The heat required was a little much for them, so many of them came off in the pool later, but they liked the pretty designs - sparkles, rainbows, stars, flowers, and "Frozen" designs.

After lunch we headed to our friend Bev Spolnik's home for swimming.  The kids picked out colorful stickers and a bubble wand to take for Mark.  We got to ride in the elevator that Mark uses, and Bev had plenty of fun pool toys out for us.

Micah kept ducking under the water so we couldn't take his picture.  Here, Papa called to him and Bev quickly snapped the picture just as he popped up out of the water!

Hannah laughing after splashing Nana:

At home, Nana popped popcorn and Papa set up a movie for us - Aristocats.  Seemed to be a winner.
There was some awful stuff we had to eat after dinner called Dirt Pudding - and it had tons of worms in it!  Surprisingly, every camper had second helpings.
At our very last Bible time we learned (or re-learned, for most of them) that on the 7th Day, God rested.  Micah and Caroline normally would read our Bible story for us.  Here is Micah reading from Genesis. After that, we all rested!

GGC Day 2

Micah has been "climbing the walls" since he got here, so typical of the very same thing his daddy Scott used to do when he was little, climbing these very same door jambs.
Here was our schedule for today:

We took a Scavenger Hunt around Zionsville, looking for pictures on our cards.  The first ones were actually around our home, the rest in town.  Papa led the way, and the kids insisted that he do his "really loud" whistle for them, which he did.
Here they found the old letter box on Main Street, definitely an antique item:
Abby noticed  pictures in an art gallery of Snow White (we never did remember the name of the 7th dwarf), Sleeping Beauty's castle, and Cinderella.  It was fun for the kids to see art that they knew something about!

"I found it!"  Micah found the Richard Gurley Family brick at Lions Park.

Of course the very best place to end up our Scavenger Hunt was at Dairy Queen for ice cream (to Hannah's delight!) even though it was before lunch.  We spent some time finger painting, then after lunch it was off to the Splash Park.  You can notice all the kids' tattoos in the pictures, which we put on this morning.

There were literally hours worth of determined work on the monkey bars by all the children - and they all were doing a great job -  but this persevering look on Caroline's face says it all.

She also was determined to make it to the top of the climber:
Hannah found the most perfect seat for twirling; in fact, all the kids loved this triangular swing that was slanted just enough to keep you spinning around.
We picked up fresh farm vegetables at our co-op on the way home, then played outside games with bubble wands, sidewalk chalk and riding toys before dinner.
The girls decorated Papa with duct tape and were giggling when he realized that he'd gone out on an errand in town with his "decorations" on.

Waiting for dinner:
And finally, Bible story time with Days 5 and 6 of creation before bed:
Nana and Papa are exhausted, but we wouldn't have it any other way!!

Children's Museum Day

Blueberry waffles and bacon were a hit for breakfast.  Hannah and Abby decided to wear their GCC t-shirts; Caroline and Micah chose yellow for their Children's Museum outing.  The craft table in the entryway was a huge success.  Much colored and patterned duct tape now adorns many boxes and cylindrical containers.

At the Children's Museum, we stopped for a picture in front of the bumblebee transformer, which actually turned out to be an important part of our day.

Stopping for hugs with CM Dinosaur...
Waiting our turn for the carousel....
The "grownups" decided not to ride horses....
...but the children loved the "up and down ones" ...
Hot Wheels exhibit is back!  The girls have got their cars all ready to go down the ramp.
With absolutely no preparation and only a partial watching of a girl ahead of him, Micah jumped right in to try to have himself "transformed" into a bumblebee transformer.  Later, he came back for another shot and did super!

Hannah showed her toughness and bravery by going next, and doing a really good job.

Miss Caroline had been watching and analyzing all the time - she did a great job!

We didn't think Abby was even interested in trying - another boy got in ahead of her - but it turned out she really wanted to do it.  Hannah, Micah, Caroline and Papa all are watching.  We didn't expect much, and when you watch the first Abby warmup video you can see she's kind of loosey-goosey!  Another dad was watching her and obviously didn't have much of an expectation.  He sure was surprised!

Abby surprised everyone by doing an outstanding job!  We were  proud of her.
 Here's the actual transformer part.

The little girls, 8 days apart in age, are becoming fast buddies.
They really wanted Nana to take a picture of their dancing in the music room at Playscape.

Now we come to an impromptu segment that began in the car on the way home.  Here's the gist of the conversation:
"Hey guys, wanna play placeman?"
"What's placeman?"
"you know, the people who put people in Jail."
"PoLICEman!"
"Ok, we have to make tickets."
"Yeah, we have to nab Papa because he tackles people."
"No, tickles."
"Ok, he's going to need a lot of money to get out of jail.  And we have to take his picture."
"Guys!  I know totally what we should do!  We'll put Papa in jail in the basement!"
"And when he gets out, no more tickling!"
And here is the paper with which Papa was served when we arrived home:
NaMe  Dick Gurley
how many monyy 2000   When you get oytof jalle no tickleing.
From: Caroline and micah
And here you see the policemen putting Papa in jail under blankets and behind chairs.
This obviously restricts the prisoner's access....
 The triumphant prison guards...
Papa did the mobile craft (thanks, Aunt Laurie!) with the gang while Nana cooked dinner...
And since God made light on the first day of creation, we made some pretty cool lights ourselves...
